Tesla’s Optimus Future: Brighter or Dimmer After Leadership Change?

With news of Milan Kovac’s departure, questions swirl around the future of Tesla’s Optimus project. Is this a simple reshuffling or a sign of deeper issues? Ashok Elluswamy, now at the helm, has a strong autopilot background. Will this shift Optimus development towards a more autonomous, less explicitly humanoid, direction? Or does it signal a doubling down on integration between vehicle AI and robotics?

Elon Musk’s ambitious timelines for Optimus are well known. Considering this leadership change, are those timelines still realistic? Could we see production delays, or perhaps a shift in the robot’s intended functionality?

Perhaps more fundamentally, what does this departure signify about the overall state of the humanoid robotics industry? Is Tesla’s vision too ambitious? Are the technological hurdles more significant than anticipated? Or is this just a bump in the road on the path to a robot-filled future? Share your thoughts and predictions.
