Model Y Discount in China: Project Juniper or Inventory Clear-out?
Tesla is offering a noteworthy discount on the Model Y in China. Coincidence? I think not. This discount, coupled with the extended 0% financing, screams pre-refresh inventory clearing to me. Are we finally on the verge of Project Juniper, the rumored Model Y redesign? Or is Tesla simply trying to boost sales figures before year-end?
The discount notably excludes the Performance variant. Does this suggest the Performance model will see more significant changes in the refresh, making the current version less desirable? Perhaps a new powertrain or battery tech is in the works?
This also raises questions about the Model 3. No discounts offered there. Is Tesla less concerned about Model 3 inventory? Or could a Model 3 refresh be further down the line?
What do you all think? Is this a clear sign of Project Juniper, a smart sales tactic, or something else entirely? Share your predictions and insights! Let the speculation begin!
