Glacier Blue and Midnight Cherry Red Model Y: What’s the Deal?

Franz von Holzhausen’s recent comments on Ride the Lightning have me intrigued, and I’m sure I’m not alone. His coy responses regarding the future availability of Glacier Blue and Midnight Cherry Red in the US raise some serious questions. Is this classic Tesla marketing mystique, or are there real production/supply chain challenges at play?

He hinted at the difficulty of achieving the unique Glacier Blue pigment, describing it as bridging the gap between silver and blue. This makes me wonder, is this color more complex to produce than others, potentially explaining its limited availability? Could this be a hint at future premium paint options, further differentiating Tesla models?

Even more cryptic was his response to the rumors of Midnight Cherry Red being discontinued. A simple stay tuned leaves much to interpretation. Is demand dwindling? Are there production issues at Giga Berlin? Or are they planning a revamped version of the color?

What are your thoughts? Are these colors destined for the US market? Are we reading too much into von Holzhausen’s comments? Let’s hear your predictions and theories.
